Quick Quote in Simplehuman

Introducing Quick Quote: Quote Any Email Text in One Keystroke

We’re excited to announce Quick Quote, a powerful new feature that makes replying to emails faster and more efficient. With a single keystroke, you can now quote any text from an email directly into your reply.

What is Quick Quote?

Quick Quote lets you select any text from an email and instantly insert it as a properly formatted quote in your reply

How simple is it? Select text, press Q, and you’re done. The selected text appears in your reply as a clean, Gmail-style quote block, ready for you to respond.

Here is a quick video to see how it works –

How It Works

Two Ways to Quote

Method 1: Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Select any text from the email you’re reading
  2. Press the Q key
  3. The text appears as a quote in your reply

Method 2: Right-Click Menu

  1. Select any text from the email
  2. Right-click and choose “Quote in Reply”
  3. The text is instantly quoted

Smart Behavior

Quick Quote is designed to work seamlessly with your workflow:

  • Drafting a reply already? The quote is inserted immediately at your cursor position
  • No reply yet? Quick Quote automatically opens Reply All and inserts the quote
  • Multiple quotes needed? Keep selecting and pressing Q to add multiple quoted sections

Who Is This For?

If you’re answering dozens of emails daily, Quick Quote is a boon. Instead of manually copying text or typing out what you’re responding to, you can:

  • Quote the customer’s specific question before answering
  • Reference multiple parts of their message
  • Create clear, organized responses that show exactly what you’re addressing

We have seen teams in customer support, project management, leadership, executive, sales reps, executive assistants make the most out of this feature.

Getting Started

Quick Quote is available now in Simplehuman to every subscriber.

You can also disable the feature:

  1. Open Gmail with Simplehuman installed
  2. Go to Simplehuman Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts
  3. Make sure “Quick Quote” is disabled (it’s on by default)

Pro tip: Quick Quote works with text from the email body, quoted sections, and even forwarded messages. Select any text you want to reference, and press Q.
